Private Ambulance ‘blue light’ protection

Tuesday 13th May 2025
Private Ambulance ‘blue light’ protection

Many private ambulances face unprecedented pressures as they work hard to support the NHS crews to meet response times, particularly for critically ill patients. When sub-contracting for the NHS, risks are higher than traditional private ambulance service. Responding to patients facing ambulance delays, transporting the deceased, and caring for patients in emergency vehicles outside hospitals are common issues.

Kerry London’s Private Ambulance Insurance is designed with the needs of private ambulance operators in mind and includes ‘blue light’ cover. Kerry London can arrange cover for private ambulances, paramedics, blood bikes, and mountain rescuers. Cover includes patient and organ transfer, and event coverage.

Other key features of the product include:

  • Policy cover extends to EU countries
  • Uninsured Loss Recovery service
  • Approved repairer service and courtesy car facility
  • Free 24-hour accident recovery service if the vehicle is undrivable
  • Contingent airside liability of up to £500,000

Lee Partner, Head of Private Clients and Commercial, Kerry London said:

“Our experts can arrange cover for privately owned and run emergency services of any size that provide ‘blue light’ assistance. Dealing with claims can be stressful, but our in-house team will manage the process quickly and efficiently.”

Kerry London can also arrange Medical Malpractice Insurance, which covers claims for negligent treatment of a patient that caused them physical or mental harm or even death. The circumstances surrounding malpractice claims can be very stressful, the cover helps by paying for legal defence costs and compensation, regardless of whether a claim is justified and proven. The policy provides invaluable cover for advice and treatment, stock, equipment, contents, and business interruption. It can also include worldwide cover (excl. US), Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, and Professional Indemnity.
