Liability – Third Party Property Claims
Your public liability policy provides cover for claims or allegations made against you by a third-party. Please notify us of any circumstances which may result in a claim. Insurers require you to make a claim immediately to allow them to investigate liability and determine liability.
When reporting a new claim please provide as much information as possible, including:
- Full details of the incident with photographs of the damage
- Any internal investigations information and witnesses
- Risk assessments and/or method statements of the task being undertaken at the time of the incident
A formal claim is an allegation of negligence and consequent damage to property and in these circumstances, will be brought by a member of the public against the property owner or occupier, the policyholder. Most claims are issued as solicitor letters from the claimant, outlining the allegations and breach of duty.
